ABOUT

LAURE

Laure Notte is a pilates and functional movement trainer, based in Ghent.

After spending time in London, she had found herself again through movement and got her back to her body. After being asked about her journey, her recipes and lifestyle, it became time for her to share her experiences with others.

Having worked as a model, I became aware of how lifestyle choices could have a part in how you look but before anything else, how it could make you feel.
I became more aware of how I was eating, what I was putting on my body and how I moved - basically everything that could contribute to feeling at my best. My interest in healthy recipes, movement and all thing wellbeings became a true passion.

With my work I want to help you to reconnect to your body and to feel empowered because you know your body.  It doesn’t get better for me to watch others becoming more confident through strength and movement.

It's more than just the physical aspect. It's about the shift in energy and the presence you have. Once you get into your body, after you have warmed up and the muscles come in - you have to stay focused on what you're doing and staying in it with yourself and your body. When the mind becomes more in tune with the body, you are able to carry this connection out of the studio and into the daily life.

Enhance what you have and work with it - instead of against it.
Knowing what works for you and how it makes you feel, is much more satisfying.

About the blog ...

to the base is a collection of my approach to movement, nutrition and all things about wellbeing. It’s about the whole experience, not just the 'muscles' or body.

Because, after all, it is all connected - the muscles, mind, nutrients, skin, fibers, thoughts (+ the surroundings), which all has a important part in wellness and feeling good. I want to give you my personal fundamentals and musings, for body and mind, in one place. Personally I don’t believe in the ‘one size fits all’ approach, so I encourage you to tune in and go what works for you. We grow, learn, change every step of the way.  It is whatever makes you the best, most well-rounded version of yourself.

It’s all based on how you feel. It’s not just physical, but it’s building on something from within. Because it's all about the base.

JOURNEY

'I developed her love for movement from an early age. Whether I was practicing ballet, dancing or riding horses, I was always doing something that required the physical body so it became an intrinsic part of my life.

After the first year of college in Fashion Technology and taking certifications in Fashion Design (at LCF, London), I thought I’d treat myself on a little trip to England for myself that combined elements I loved - horses, movement and organic foods.

Just to go somewhere I could just be and do things I missed during the time demanding year.  This is where I first encountered yoga and pilates in real life. I already did some exercises I found online but never had the in studio experience, but I’m so glad I did.

I never felt as calm and connected within my body, as after my first session.

The movement with precision and flow took me back to my childhood and I loved it. The work on energy - with yourself or with your four legged really struck me.

After that wonderful weekend, I knew - deep down- I wanted to do something in this area. But I didn’t know what or where to start.

Fast forward a year of some modeling in Paris and Belgium, I found myself in London - where I was working in the hospitality for a wellness company. Whenever I had free time or I had finished work, I always went to fitness studios, trainers and yoga studio’s. I even managed my work schedule around going to the classes I wanted to and I knew I could learn from. It was then I decided I wanted to do Pilates teacher trainings.

The year following my adventures in London, I went back and forth between London and Belgium, to do teacher training courses with Balanced Bodies and take different styles of classes, to expand the experience in my own body and to find what worked for me. Or let’s say, what I found was important to implement in my own sessions.

I’ve spend a lot of my spare time working with well known trainers and coaches from London and beyond. Now, I teach what I’ve been taught and learn along the way.

Long story short, I’m a woman who’s path has led her to education in fashion, design, pilates and body movement. So what should I do with that?'

Well, here is a glimpse into my journey.
